Our Approach
At Southern New Hampshire Expressive Arts Therapy Studio, we believe therapy should make room for the whole person — not just the parts that are easy to put into words.
We are a small, trauma-informed group practice offering creative, collaborative mental health care for individuals, couples, and families. Our clinicians bring together traditional psychotherapy with art therapy and other expressive approaches, creating space for clients to explore experiences in ways that feel authentic, meaningful, and accessible.
Our practice is especially welcoming to people who may have felt underserved by more traditional approaches to therapy, including neurodivergent individuals and families, LGBTQ+ clients, creative people, athletes, high performers, and those navigating anxiety, depression, mood concerns, relationship challenges, stress, or significant life transitions.
We believe change is possible even when circumstances feel difficult or outside our control. Therapy can help us understand where we do have choice, build insight, strengthen coping skills, and discover new ways of relating to ourselves and others. Serena’s own approach emphasizes both creativity and personal agency — the idea that while we cannot control everything, we often have more power than we realize.
Our work is relational, strengths-based, and individualized. Some clients benefit from conversation; others find that imagery, art-making, creative exploration, or experiential approaches help them communicate what words alone cannot capture.
There is no expectation that clients be “artistic.” The purpose is not to create a finished product — it is to use the creative process as another route toward expression, reflection, self-awareness, and change.
We aim to create a therapeutic space that is warm, inclusive, curious, and respectful of each person’s identity and lived experience.
For some people, traditional talk therapy works beautifully. For others, it can feel limiting.
Our goal is to offer more than one way into the therapeutic process — through words, art, reflection, experimentation, connection, and curiosity.
You do not need to know exactly what you need before you begin. You simply need a place where you can start.
